Pre-Fall Prabal

We love kaleidoscopes here at Style Relish, especially printed on shirts, skirts and everrrrything in between. So naturally Prabal Gurung's pre-fall collection is totally up our alley. Check out the video below via style.com, featuring music by Pictureplane. Gimme gimme!

Steven Alan Spring 2011

images/ Steven Alan

Steven Alan always banks on simple shapes, loose fit and muted color.  These three factors could contribute to one very boring lookbook but somehow Steven Alan gets it right every time.  What's not to like about his no fuss no muss aesthetic?  What say you?

Pixie Market

images/ Pixie Market

AHHHH it's been so hot out.  Anyone have any good ideas for keeping cool?

I just came across this website called Pixie Market where they have some pretty cool looks.  The prices aren't so bad, I think they're comparable to Urban or Anthropologie and definitely cheaper than Madewell so it's worth checking out their site if you have the time.  I picked out some of my favorite looks so let me know what you think of em.  Also I just got a haircut like the girl with the sunglasses above but I'm getting used to it still.  I don't think I can ever go back to not having bangs.  Weird?

My friend Marcy and I have forayed into the world of making french macarons (3rd attempt this past friday: chocolate with raspberry and hazelnut filling) so I'll be blogging more about that in the future I hope.  First time I tried was a total flop (Chuck's Day Off recipe and they were hard and flat), second time was good (less flat and chewable), third time might have been the charm except I think we over beat the eggs a little but they were still tasty.  BUT we did get some of the desirable FEET (that little lift) so desired on the base of the macarons.  Maybe next time will be even better...

Okay! That's all for now.  I hope you all don't melt in the sun.

BUTTERFLIES

Is it just me or are butterfly motifs blowing up right about now?  I took a walk through H&M and Zara today and noticed at least a couple of butterfly things (enough to make an impression on me).  I actually like it a lot- butterflies are so colorful and cheerful yet also delicate.  Bring on the bugs.  I actually have a couple of "butterfly bushes" in my yard that attract a tonnnnn of butterflies.  I'll take a couple of pictures when the time is right.  Until then enjoy these picks...

Featuring: ERDEM

Here are some looks from the Erdem Spring 2011 line that I really love. Just read an article about him in Bazaar magazine and apparently many of his fabric designs come from digital photos and patterns. Erdem graduated from the Royal College of Art and seems like an all around cool guy. His ballsy designs are geometric and structured without being stiff. In fact, I think the effect is quite girly but in a edgy sort of proper way (that make sense?). I'd wear any of these, what about you?

Fashion That Looks Good Enough To Eat

When I came across this on the A Little Bit Weird blog, I knew I had to share. I think by now it's pretty obvious that we here at Style Relish love food just as much as we like shopping, and so when we come across both in the same place... we're thrilled! Sung Yeon Ju, a Korean designer, made all of these dresses out of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other foods (including eggs, chicken, and shrimp) for her Wearable Foods series. Her Tomato #2 dress is so beautiful that it was used in an H&M ad campaign. What a great idea for your Thanksgiving leftovers ....juuust kidding. Check out some of her amazingly intricate work below.

...and my personal favourite, White Radish:

Ahhh I want to wear (and eat) them all! If you want to see more of Sung Yeon Ju's work, and if you're interested in seeing those egg, chicken or shrimp dresses I mentioned, check out her website for more! And if you're into strange food art, have a look at our Food Friends post from October.
