Back To The Start

I saw this commercial last week at the movie theatre and thought it was super cool. Only at the end did I find out what it was advertising. Willie Nelson covered Coldplay for the soundtrack and (even though I hate Coldplay) all the proceeds from their iTunes sales go to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, which supports sustainable agriculture and family farming. The film, by Johnny Kelly, tells the story of a farmer that turns his small farm into an industrial factory before "seeing the error of his ways" and returning to his sustainable family farm. I'm not entirely convinced that Chipotle is as sustainable as it pretends to be, but I am a fan of the commercial. Kind of cool, eh?

Transformers

I love love love technology that is innovative, efficient AND attractive, so when I saw this video I was into IT. I love when beds hide into walls, things turn into other things and everything is super minimalistic and clean (the reason that I love Ikea... oh, and the meatballs obviously). It's exactly the way I'm going to have to furnish my future shoebox of an apartment. I love all of the brilliant ideas presented by Ron Barth, the president of Resource Furniture, in this video.

How cool, right? Check out their website for more space-saving options! I'm so impressed!

100 Years of Style

My friend Jess showed me this awesome video depicting 100 years of East London style from 1911-2011, just in time for fashion week! How cool!

Seems like it's about time for suits to come back, eh? Sadly I won't be home for NYFW because I'm moving back up to Boston, but Amanda and I will still be gracing you with our lovely blog presence no matter where we go. No worries peeps!

Very Cherry

Seriously, who on earth knew that gelatin could be so beautiful? Usually when I think of jello, I picture the blancmange rabbit that became a dreaded family tradition (not even my aunt, the creator of such a horrendous creature, liked them). But, when dropped onto a solid surface and taped in high speed video... this jello actually looks damn good.

I'm pretty impressed. We actually played with a similar camera in my biomechanics class the other day, but in not nearly as cool a way. Ps - the jello is cherry flavoured.

Contra... Band

I just got back from Maine, where I had the absolute pleasure of trying out contradancing for the first time ever. And let me tell you, it was some serious fun. Sure, it seems like it's a good-clean-fun-for-oldies kinda thing, but I promise you it was nothing like that. It's a bit tricky to find good videos that convey the chaos that ensued, but check out a contradance extravaganza from Missouri below (sorry for the poor quality of the video, but just watch the changing formations.. it's great!). Although I confused my left from my right an embarrassing number of times, I had a blast!

Just thought I'd share my delightful escapades with you guys! New England has some great traditions. I also enjoyed the names of some of the towns: Norway, Paris, Sweden, China, Peru. Definitely creative... Maine has everything (even Europe).

Tetris All 'Round

I have to admit that I am more than a bit obsessed with Tetris. I also happen to quite like stop motion videos. And... books. So when I came across this video that integrates all three of my likes, I was impressed. Check out this cool video, and maybe get inspired to make a bookshelf of your own like this:

Happy (Silly) Wednesday

Wednesday is the definition of "one of those days," furthest from the weekend as we can get. BUT, just remember.. at least you're not in a traffic jam behind this guy:

Rémi Gaillard is a crazy French guy who is adventurous (silly) enough to pull hilarious pranks on passer-bys in the road, as well as in public places like supermarkets, pool halls and golf courses. Great, right? He's been around for ages, but I came across his Pacman video again and laughed alone in my room for 10 minutes. Don't know what I'm talking about? Check it out below:

My favourite part is when one of his minions falls over the greeting cards. Disastrous! I wish I could be as cool as he is. Speaking of stupid costumes (and these would be great ones)... what's everyone being for Halloween?

Irish Dance for the Post-Pop Generation

My dear friend Monica showed me this video recently, and I can't stop wishing I was coordinated enough to be able to do this myself. We've tried many a time, but really it just ends up with us banging on the table with no rhythm or rhyme to it. Believe me, Suzanne Cleary and Jonny Reed (aka upandoverit) are much better at it. Don't you wish you were this coordinated?

Check out their YouTube channel if you want to see more, and let us know if you learn the hand dance. We will most definitely be jealous...
