Dusen Dusen

Dusen Dusen is Ellen Van Dusen's post-college brainchild. Based in Brooklyn, Dusen Dusen mixes simple silhouettes with fun, tribal-ish prints. There's a lot of blue throughout, so obviously I'm into it. These pieces are from her Fall 2011 collection, but I'd still wear 'em right now.

Resort Part I

Everyone loves resort collections, me included. It's just great to see designers having a bit of fun with lots of playful, colourful pieces to tide us over. I love girly pieces that can be dressed up with a bit of edge, as you can probably tell from my past posts. Some of my favourites for Resort 2012 would definitely have to include Anna Sui, Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler and Alexandre Herchcovitch (what a name!). Dresses, prints and colours, oh my!

Well, That's Just Brie-lliant!

So by now, I hope ya'll know a little bit about how much Amanda and I love food. Especially CHEESE. I literally would give away one of my limbs for the last block of cheese on earth, if that gives you a bit of context. So when I saw that Bath Spa University fashion students had created the most brie-lliant (hehe) outfits made entirely of cheese, I was thrilled! The students used over 2,000 lbs of cheddar cheese in order to fashion some interesting couture gowns. Check out some photos of their masterpieces below:

Lisa Dillon also created a pair of "Jimmy Cheese" heels to add to the collection, using bread and cheddar cheese.

The only problem for me is that I would have eaten the dresses (and the bag too ...although perhaps not the shoes) by the time I actually got to my destination. So much cheddar, so little time. This is sort of along the same vein as Lady Gaga's meat dress, huh? And definitely reminiscent of Fulvio Bonavia's edible accessories as well as Sung Yeon Ju's Wearable Foods. Hm.. I see a pattern forming here. I guess I might be slightly obsessed with food worn as clothing... let's just pretend that's normal for now, okay? 

Have a happy weekend! It's Amanda's 23rd birthday on Sunday, so eating lots of meat products will definitely be involved. Look forward to pictures!

Festive Fashion

Soo the holidays are once again lurking around the corner, ready to creep up and smother us with good cheer and weird Christmas pudding (am I being cynical?). But, being cooped up with crazy family members doesn't have to be all bad. The holidays are the perfect excuse to dress up and be glamorous! Although, who needs an excuse anyway?

Here are my picks for festive attire that will make even the scroogiest of Scrooges feel joyful. And they'd all look just great with a glass of champagne.

Objects of Obsession: The Lil Blue Dress

So, anyone that knows me should have recognised by now that I have a certain... attraction to blue dresses. I'm keeping a running tally of how many are in my closet and so far, we're at about 28. Okayyy, so maybe we could call it an obsession. So I guess that makes this the second O.O.O (Objects of Obsession) post, second of manyyy more to come.

Cheaper than a sandwich

Just so you know I usually measure how much things cost by how many sandwiches I can get for the same price. I know that's weird but just go with it. Anyway, H+M has this dress out now that goes for a whopping $4.95 and it's not half bad. I think it would be better a lot looser but it could definitely work esp. if you had it loose with a black belt or some such. Just think, you could be getting the same type thing but paying 10x the money if you got it at American Apparel.
